Bedan Mwathi is passionate about Africa, people and doing good. Africa in its entirety; people and culture; languages, music, art, fashion and religion. Loving people entails understanding them as cultural constructs in their environmental context.
He previously worked as a Researcher and Strategist in Brand2D where he worked with corporates to help understand their customers and better communicate with them. As part of the innovation team, he would find data to craft brand stories in a compelling and empathetic way.He is an anthropologist by profession with a special interest in cross-cultural communication, anthropological observation and cultural preservation.
Rotary International has seen him collaborate with other clubs to work on education related CSR projects in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. The recent one being a rehabilitation of Nyacyonga Primary School in Gasabo District, Kigali. While in school, he was part of a research team in a community-based organization in Limuru that studied how informal savings groups (chamas) work across different age groups in the rural and semi-urban communities in Nairobi and Kiambu counties. The report from this research was used to plan a financial literacy training for members of small-scale savings groups.
